Alex Bump’s long-awaited NHL debut has finally happened and it’s a night he’ll never forget, scoring his first career goal in the second period against the Philadelphia Flyers’ biggest rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

This game was high-scoring but also somehow low-event, with neither team registering double-digit shots on goal in any period, but still we got highlights from Denver Barkey scoring off a feed from Matvei Michkov, and Owen Tippett notching his fourth straight 20-goal season, scoring on a nice pass from Trevor Zegras.

As the NHL Trade Deadline approached, many fans and analysts expected Ristolainen to be moved for future assets. However, Brière’s comments shed light on why the Flyers held onto the big right-shot defenseman and what it means for the team’s plans moving forward. Briere also speaks on other moves the Flyers made, including Bobby Brink for David Jiricek, Deslauries to the Carolina Hurricanes, and more.

The Philadelphia Flyers have already made a couple of trades, one sending Bobby Brink to his hometown Minnesota Wild in exchange for 2022 sixth overall pick, defenseman David Jiricek. Danny Briere also made an AHL move, exchanging Massimo Rizzo and Alexis Gendron for Boston’s Brett Harrison and Jackson Edward.

Now, all attention shifts to if Briere can get his asking price for Rasmus Ristolainen, and if marginal pieces like Nic Deslauriers and/or Carl Grundstrom can fetch any sort of return.
