The Philadelphia Flyers opened up a 3-0 lead in a must-win situation in Detroit against another team gunning to end a playoff drought, the Red Wings, who are also fighting to stay alive in the Eastern Conference wild card race.

Owen Tippett scored goals in the first and second, while Dan Vladar was clutch with big saves throughout the game to earn the win.

The Philadelphia Flyers wasted little time erasing the bad taste from Tuesday’s loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, going up 1-0 on an Alex Bump goal before 50 seconds were played, and taking a 2-0 lead via Sean Couturier in just over 2:30 of game time.

Philly cruised to a victory over the lowly Blackhawks, and if for only one night against a bad team, put on a show for the Douth Philly crowd, providing a great encore to the Phillies Opening Day win.
