Again With This: Dawson's, Melrose, 90210

Felicity is just trying to figure out the new normal now that Ben knows why Felicity’s there, Felicity knows Ben never had a brother who died, and Julie knows Felicity isn’t totally over Ben. When she hears that a young man has called the admissions office trying to get a copy of her application essay, she assumes it was Ben trying to get them back on equal footing, and mails him a copy. Then she bounces into a meeting with Pappaleno only to see both her parents already there, and things rapidly go downhill. While Noel is not busy trying to convince Felicity that when he said he had feelings for her he didn’t REALLY mean it, he’s navigating a roommate conflict between Larry (John Cho), who wishes Lewis wouldn’t keep talking in his sleep about buying knives to kill Larry with; and Lewis, who…seems pretty shifty, actually. The writers’ ambivalent (if not outright confused) views about excessive drinking are inflicted on us once again as Pacey throws himself a belated housewarming party to celebrate a Best Buy shopping spree. At least one of your co-hosts is disgusted by the portrayal of female characters uniformly disdaining the new giant TV; all the dudes are firmly in favor, including Gus, Emma’s fiancé? Yep, turns out she needs an American husband, and fast, because her visa is no longer valid for reasons we should have figured out back when she was hanging around the aquarium every day. Joey is determined to drink away her heartache over Eddie’s departure; Jen is ready to be sober out of respect for CJ, so she’s horrified when she hears that Pacey offered him a drink and he took it. At the other end of the sobriety spectrum, Audrey’s still in rehab in L.A. Dawson comes to visit, not only cloddishly arriving without so much as an Us Weekly but then forgetting whom he’s there for as soon as she spots one of her fellow patients: a producer named Toni Stark. Dawson would have to be made of iron (man) not to parlay this chance sighting into a networking opportunity, right??? Join us as we get down and dirty about “Clean And Sober”!

Felicity Porter (Keri Russell) is at her commencement, realizing she’s not as happy about the life her parents have mapped out for her: doing all her schooling at Stanford to become a doctor, exactly like her dad. So when she bravely asks her crush, Ben (Scott Speedman) to become the second person to sign her senior yearbook and finds out he’s going to “New York” for college, she finds her acceptance letter to the same school and decides to enroll there too. When she runs into him again on campus in the fall, his reaction is her first sign that her impulsive decision isn’t going to pan out exactly the way she might have hoped when she made it. This is possibly the crappiest show-verse property we’ve ever contemplated, and we’re talking about that, plus early TWoP days, Some Kind Of Wonderful, and “frisky twins” (ew). Listen now!

After Joey found Audrey unconscious at the end of the previous episode, she got in touch with the Liddells offscreen, and arrangements have been made for Audrey to enter a rehab program in the Los Angeles area. Except, whoops, no one thought this person deep in substance misuse disorder might pretend to head for the airport, then actually find a karaoke bar, bring a guy named Bob (Seth Rogen!) back to a local hotel room, and hide out. Since Eddie has decided to try to enroll in that writers’ workshop and, conveniently, drive himself across the country that very night, Joey volunteers him to drive Audrey too — something Audrey only agrees to if they also bring Bob. Since Joey learned nothing from this flight risk the first time, predictable mayhem ensues. Dawson is way out over his skis on reshoots, enduring open disrespect from his DP and Natasha and threats from Heather (whose fault this is, honestly). And when Grams clashes with an entirely offscreen Mr. Smalls, Jen decides the answer is to set her up with CJ’s widowed Uncle Bill (Geoffrey Lewis! …You’ll know him when you see him). Look waaaaaay down for our latest episode: we’ve struck Rock! Bottom!!!
