Patrick Rieger sent St Patrick's Day Feedback from 2026: "Hi Marc,
My family and I marched in Pittsburgh's Saint Patrick's Day Parade again but this time for one of our other activities, representing the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh. We were joined by three other members of the club. As far as I know, this is the first time in its 97 year history the club was represented in the parade, which itself started in 1869. The parade celebrates Saint Patrick and the Irish, but also Pittsburgh and its people, and the club is part of that.
The parade started at 10AM but since we were near the back, we didn't start moving until 11:30, so we had time to talk with other participants.. I love the variety of groups in the parade, One of our members brought a small telescope with a Sun filter so we could safely show people the Sun while we waited. The Saturday Light Brigade radio program likes to hear from people at the parade so I gave them a call.
Here are some photos. Yes, that is someone dressed as a pierogi on a scooter, pierogies are big in Pittsburgh. My wife and I carried the banner. It was a joy to be in the parade again, and I hope the club is willing for us to do it again next year.
We didn't go to any celebrations, they would be too crowded and too crazy. We went to one of our observatories where people brought games and snacked on pizza instead. I'll get back to the pub after the holiday."

I had to write and thank you for this great and necessary episode. Not only a necessary idea and thing to do in our current moment, but beautifully done. Great selection of songs, and I love the history and commentary you wove into the episode. I'm sure you'll get some feedback complaining that you shouldn't get political, but right now it is necessary. And really, it's hardly even political; it's just talking about the reality of the moment. Thanks as always for your great work and especially this inspirational episode. Here's something worth celebrating. In most of the world, clean energy is now the cheapest electricity ever produced. Solar and wind cost less to build and run than anything that came before, and those prices keep dropping. That means lower bills, cleaner air, and good jobs, often right in your own community. The future we've been hoping for is already showing up on the grid.
And here's the best part. You have a real say in how fast it arrives. So much of this is decided close to home, by city councils, county boards, utility commissions, and state representatives. These are the people who choose what gets built and how quickly your neighborhood feels the benefits. When you show up, they listen.
So vote in every election, especially the local ones. Get to know where the folks on your ballot stand on clean energy, and cheer on the ones moving things forward. Talk to your neighbors. Show up to a meeting. Every voice adds momentum, and momentum is exactly what turns a bright possibility into the world we live in.

Some exciting news here in Pittsburgh for people who like Irish music. An Irish band formed just a few years ago, Devil Take the Women, the name taken from "Whiskey in the Jar". The band is made up of Lauren on acoustic guitar and main vocals, Megan on fiddle and vocals, and Chris on the drums. The Irish bands and musicians I have seen and heard about in Pittsburgh have been around for many years. So to have a new band is pretty cool. My family and I, plus our friend Abby, saw Devil Take the Women for the first time on July 18 at Mullaney's Harp & Fiddle Irish Pub, and it was a great show. They have lots of energy, and a great stage personality. They throw in a few non - Irish songs from time to time, but most of the time it's Irish, which is good for us who have not been happy with the decline in the amount of Irish music played in the pubs for a number of years. We will be seeing them again, and hopefully get some more friends to join us."

I used to be able to make money with my CDs on Qvc network and other outlets but now find it very difficult. I have composed many songs in the traditional manner which I would like to promote and find a way to make an income stream with the music I've already produced. I have four CDs I have collaborated on several others. Someone has put much of my music on iTunes which you can search Martha Clancy and iTunes for but I don't get any income from that.

Clean energy is now the cheapest power humanity has ever built. Solar and wind beat coal and gas on price, and last year they grew fast enough to cover the world's entire increase in electricity demand. The technology works. The costs keep falling. The only thing slowing it down is people who profit from the old way of doing things.
Fossil fuel interests spend enormous sums to protect their business. They fund campaigns, shape legislation, and stall the shift to cleaner, cheaper energy. That is not a market at work. That is a market being held back.
So here is the call to action: pay attention to who your representatives listen to. Ask them where they stand on clean energy. Vote like your electricity bill and your grandkids depend on it, because they do.

The 2026 Celtic PodFest was a tremendous success. Kinnfolk and The Muckers joined me for our first festival at The Lost Druid Brewery in Avondale Estates, Ga. The festival happened because of many of my listeners who pledged at our start - of - the - year Kickstarter. We had a great turnout, but we could've done better if we had planned it more than a month out.

Troy of The Secret Commonwealth emailed a sad follow up back in March to the news about his friend who was illegally held in ICE custody: "Marc, thank you so much for sharing the fundraiser for my friend on your new episode.
It is with profoundly heavy heart that I have to tell you that my friend died last Sunday of a heart attack. He had been moved to a hospital in Mississippi and apparently suffered two successive attacks. His body is being returned now.
To say we are devastated and infuriated would be inadequate to describe our state of being. We had just been sending his lawyers important records and documents that we felt, along with his obvious serious health conditions, had a very good chance of securing his release. We'll never know now if that would have proven to be true, but we just needed him to endure a little while longer, which he ultimately could not. He died one month short of a year since being detained by ICE.
I have not yet publicly announced this in an update to our fundraiser because, frankly, it's still too fresh and painful to address. But any proceeds we've made will obviously now be put toward the cost of his funeral service.
Sorry to impart this bad news, but I mostly wanted to express my gratitude to you for your kind support on behalf of Pejman's family, my girlfriend (who was his dearest friend in the world and who spearheaded this fight for his freedom) and for me.
