LSU avoided a disastrous start to SEC play by outslugging Vanderbilt 16-9 in the series finale in Nashville. After watching a six-run lead evaporate, the Tigers erupted late with five runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth to salvage the weekend.

Jake Brown delivered the biggest blow, crushing a three-run homer and finishing with six RBI, while Cade Arrambide and Derek Curiel added key hits during LSU’s offensive explosion. The Tigers collected 10 hits and went 7-for-16 with runners in scoring position, but the game also featured defensive miscues and a tense middle stretch where Vanderbilt clawed all the way back.

We break down the wild win, the encouraging signs from the offense, concerns about LSU’s defense and bullpen, and what the Tigers need to clean up as SEC play continues.
