Scott Galloway is joined today by Alice Han for a deep dive into one of the most consequential diplomatic events of Trump's second term: Chinese President Xi Jinping's first state visit to the United States in nearly a decade.

Trump personally welcomed Xi at Andrews Air Force Base — the first U.S. president since JFK to receive a foreign counterpart there — rolling out the full diplomatic spectacle of a state dinner and red carpet welcome. Ahead of Xi's arrival, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the U.S. and China have extended their trade truce until January.But underneath the pageantry are much more consequential questions. Alice gives her high-level read on the summit: what Xi actually came to Washington to get, what Trump was looking for, and how much the balance of power between the two countries has shifted since Trump's first term — when China has since become a major player in AI, EVs, robotics, chips, and space. They also talk through international relations and the balance of power not just between the two superpowers, but how Taiwan, Iran, and Ukraine are impacting their relationship.

On AI: Bernie Sanders introduced a bill this week to ban artificial superintelligence and establish a Cabinet-level agency to regulate it. The U.S. and China are competing intensely to lead the technology, but both governments are also increasingly alarmed by what these systems can do. Can the two countries cooperate on AI safety while remaining fierce competitors everywhere else?

On trade: the two-month truce extension buys time — but what does each country actually need from a longer-term deal, and what are the real sticking points?

Trump’s press ban fallout also reached the summit itself: a federal judge ordered the White House to restore access for CNN, MSNOW, and Politico, calling the ban likely unconstitutional. Major TV networks also declined to film Xi's arrival. Alice breaks down how that dynamic — an American president fighting his own press at a state visit — lands in Beijing.

And with AOC teasing a 2028 run, JB Pritzker sharing his weight loss journey, and Kamala Harris campaigning with Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, Alice also weighs in on how China is thinking about the 2028 elections and what a new political era in America might mean for the relationship.

Finally: looking five to ten years out, is the U.S.-China relationship heading toward a managed rivalry with agreed rules of the road — or into a period of much more intense competition?

Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov open a packed week for Trump both foreign and domestic. Trump addresses the 81st UN General Assembly tomorrow, with meetings also planned with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Later this week, Chinese President Xi Jinping visits the White House for a state dinner with a guest list that includes Tim Cook, Sam Altman, and Jensen Huang. And Trump is claiming he has closed a deal with Denmark giving the U.S. "permanent control over security and all other needs" in Greenland — expected to be signed at the UN this week. What should we be watching?

Meanwhile, Trump has banned CNN, MSNOW, and Politico from the White House, accusing them of reporting "fiction and lies." The three outlets are now suing for access — and today, major TV networks declined White House pool duties in response.

A new House Ethics complaint is accusing Representative Lauren Boebert of sexual relationships with three staffers and a $200,000 hush payment to one of them. Boebert's spokesperson is calling it a "politically motivated stunt." Jess weighs in.Plus, Scott clears the record on the current stage of crime and homelessness in San Francisco.

Finally, the campaign to convince Kamala Harris not to run in 2028 is gaining momentum. After Gavin Newsom said he'd stand down if she ran, Democratic superdonor Reid Hoffman has now said it would be "a very challenging path for her." Meanwhile Harris has been making public statements about the growing dangers of AI — one of the biggest issues of the midterms. And with or without Harris, Democratic donors are now reportedly open to an AOC run in 2028 — what does that signal?

Voting is now officially underway in North Carolina, but the legal fight over mail-in ballots isn't over. The Supreme Court has blocked Trump's plan to have the U.S. Postal Service screen and potentially withhold mail-in ballots, in a brief unsigned opinion noting the plan was likely unlawful. Trump responded by attacking the justices on social media, writing: "These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court, they are merely a shell of their original selves." Aaron breaks down the ruling and the state of voter restriction heading into November.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has introduced articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, alleging he waged the Iran war illegally, ignored a congressional order to withdraw, and caused unnecessary civilian casualties. Kalshi currently puts the likelihood of Hegseth leaving his job for any reason by December 1st at 29%. Massie's term is ending this year, after he lost his primary. How bold an action is this really?

Republican lawmakers are pushing back on Trump's recent pledge to give every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain their majority after November. Aaron breaks down why it's actually politically useful for Republicans to distance themselves from this idea right now.

New details have emerged about Donald Trump Jr.'s recent wedding in the Bahamas — including an after-party paid for by a Russian businessman. Aaron breaks down what we know about who Umar Kremlev is and what his connection to the Trump family means.

And finally: after pressure from venue owners, Macklemore has been dropped as an opening act for Ed Sheeran's stadium tour. The pressure came after Macklemore said "Free Palestine" onstage. The internet has a lot of thoughts. Aaron and Jessica react.
