    Writer, father and long-time friend of RTRFM Laurie Steed is no stranger to vulnerability and his latest collection of short stories published with UWA Publishing is no different. Greater City Shadows is a culmination of everything Laurie does best; a love letter to connection, relationships and Boorloo/Perth, spanning the people, places and moments that define the city. Though based in the most isolated city in the world his work has been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and published in Best Australian Stories, The Age and Meanjin…just to name a few. He has a PhD in creative writing from The University of Western Australia and currently works for Writing WA as an editor, writer and workshop facilitator. In this episode Laurie chats about creating during the pandemic, being the father of two young boys and how he has made friends with risk.   • Between the Lines: Author and academic Brendan Ritchie on the joys and challenges of publishing and the big ideas we can draw from local writing (Chapter 6)
    Brendan Ritchie is a writer and acedemic from the south coast of WA. He is the winner of the 2022 Dorothy Hewett Award for an unpublished manuscript and author of novels including Carousel (2015) and Beyond Carousel (2016). Brendan has a PhD in Creative Writing and has also published poetry and non-fiction in several notable journals and collections. He lives on Wadandi land with his wife and two young daughters. In chapter six of Between the Lines, Danielle Raffaele sits down with Brendan to chat about the joys and challenges of publishing books and the big ideas we can draw from the writing of local authors.
